Meet Kelly

A counselor who believes people need to feel understood before they can begin to change.

I’m Kelly Casparius, owner and lead counselor at Beacon of Hope Counseling. I work with children, families, and adults who are navigating anxiety, trauma, difficult emotions, major changes, and times when life simply feels like too much.

Parents often come in knowing something is wrong before they know exactly how to describe it. A child may be worrying constantly, shutting down, acting out, struggling to talk about feelings, or reacting to something difficult that has happened. My job is not to expect families to arrive with all the answers. We begin with what you are seeing and work from there.

My approach

Counseling should fit the person—not the other way around.

I do not believe two clients should receive the exact same therapy simply because they share a diagnosis. Each person brings a different history, personality, family system, set of strengths, and way of processing the world.

That is especially important when working with children. Kids do not always have the words to explain anxiety, grief, trauma, frustration, or fear. Counseling can give them another way to communicate while helping parents better understand what may be happening underneath the behavior.

The goal is to create a relationship where clients can feel safe enough to be honest, learn practical skills, recognize their strengths, and gradually build healthier ways of coping and communicating.
